Ever since I got my 65 on the road this spring I was disappointed with the amount of steering input that was required on roads that have lots of crown changes. You would constantly have to perform small steering corrections to keep going down the middle of the road, but on the interstate or on a new road you could drive for miles without hardly moving the steering wheel. Everything was new with the exception of steering box which I couldn't adjust any better without creating a tight spot.
My suspension combo includes:
- Eibach sport springs, 550# fronts, 165# rears
- Poly bushing on everything except shock mounting points
- KYB shocks
- 1-3/8" 2nd gen. Z-28 front bar
- Boxed upper and lower rear control arms
- 16" ARE TT II's with Dunlop SP-8000 tires (sticky!)
I decided to try a 1" rear bar to see if it would help with some mild wheel hop I was getting.
Didn't improve the wheel hop at all but it sure drives much better on the multi-crowned roads!
I put on about 100 miles this weekend and was very pleased with the overall driving improvement! I found myself driving with one hand on blacktop back roads that before would have been a challenge.
I guess I can't blame it on the worn out seats springs anymore (feels light I'm riding on a bean bag!)
Anyway just thought I'd share, maybe this will help someone else.
