i have a 71 chevelle with drum brakes and i have a 80 malibu with disc brakes can i use the disc set up from the 80 and install it to the 71 thanks for info. mike :cool:

It can be done, but not worth the pathetic 10.5" disc brakes.

You'll need a G-body upper and lower ball joint (the lower probably needs to be chucked on a lathe and cut down to our 2.010" pocket size) and the outer tie rod ends will need to be swapped for the G-body ones.

Look for a stock disc setup or go with the tall spindle setup. Do a search you'll find plenty of discussion.

On a side note, the drum spindles are the same as the disc spindles except they have the upper backing plate bolt hole milled down to accept the disc brake caliper bracket. You can machine this part yourself and buy the necessary stock pieces to do the swap. Some people on this site have done it.
