The parts books I have seen indicate that the rear wheel cylinders for a 68 Chevelle with front drums are 7/8 diameter, and if equipped with with front disks are 15/16 diameter. Is this true in all cases? The reason I ask is because my rear cylinders are 15/16 but I have front drums. However, my drums are not the finned variety that were standard in 68, so it begs the question... Did my car originally have front disks that were changed to drums? (Can't imagine why) Or were 15/16 diameter rear cylinders sometimes used on cars that were factory front drums? Not really a big deal, just curious. By the way, I have no build sheet to refer to.

the factory would have used whatever parts were in the assembly cue for installation. They could have used the 15/16 diameters ones.

Most probably before you owned the car someone did a brake job and replaced the wheel cylinders with the 15/16 ones, either by accident or on purpose. They will easilly swap with the 7/8 WC's and are almost physically identical.

Thanks for the input guys. And John, I never thought of that, but my car definately has a straight-line racing legacy. Just a cruiser now. Thanks again...
