What do you suppose this will end up selling for? It even has the fasten seat belt light. Looks nice

Does not have the steel frame work to mount it. Really is not any better than an undamaged original used one.

And with 1 bid at $500 sounds like a shill to me:confused:

I suppose you could re-use your existing metal frame, but I think that's a little high too.

It cost $800 to have one refinished....

That is the way it was serviced with out the steel frame !!!! the die were modified to comply with the Jan 72 law requiring the seat belt light. Even if you had a 70 and it was involved in an accident from 72 out this was what you got . I have seen many of these over the years not a bad price at all !!! I have restored these dashes for customers for 25 years now and a good one 70-72 is still hard to find. The repop is just junk wrong fonts on the letters wrong grain and just looks cheap !!!!

LOL I love hearing this in these discussions.... I guess the $500 opening bid is a shill? I think not.

They have a friend start the open bid and now sit back and wait to hook another bidder.

Hey, maybe that explains why you see so many REAL 70 SS's with '72 Dashes :p.

Jim you are correct the repos suck. I had rather take a bad original and make it work than use a repo, you can spot them a mile away.

I'd thought of buying this one, but despite the title, it was far from NOS.

I list 25 auctions a week at different opening bids and NEVER have a shill bidder open them up.... I bet you would accuse me too. LOL its funny. Accuse away.....

Wow. It's over the $1000 mark. I would think the market for a dash with the fasten seat belt light would be small. Maybe this might encourage the manufacturers of the reproduction dashes to add it to their inventory.
Someone needs to make the 71-72 cowl induction air breathers too. Just to be fair.

It's worth every penny to the right person, for the right car.

I got a aftermarket dash i would let go for 100 bucks. It has a couple small cracks and a hole drilled to the right of the radio for an oil pressure gauge.
PM me for more details and pics...

I dont see anyone accusing you of anything. Yet you always have an attitude about this stuff. Why even bother posting here anymore if you constantly have issues all the time?

I find it funny that almost all posts here in "Whats it worth" that has an ebay link with an unusually high price gets accused of shill bids. No attitude here, just sick of reading about shill bidding when it obviously isn't.

I have a friend who is parting out a 72 Monte Carlo and the dash in it is really nice. No holes like some other Monte Carlo dashes we've seen. This the second 72 Monte Carlo dash he's found that are in very good condition. Most all the 70 Monte Carlo dashes we've run across have the holes in the face of them. Wonder why they did that? Maybe it let air out when they put the wood grain cover on them. Sure ruined a lot of potential donor dashes for Chevelles.

The 70-1 monte dashes, they're attached by studs = holes. 72 are attached by tabs which are not seen when the woodgrain bezel is removed.

The 70-71 dashes I've seen don't have any of the tabs going through the bigger holes. They come through smaller holes. One of the larger holes cuts through the wiper text which makes it almost impossible to fix.
My original '70 SS dash has the 4 small slots that accept the tabs for the wood grain cover like what you're talking about. Wonder why they decided to use those in 72. There was also a black adhesive on the 72s which helped keep it in place. Maybe they didn't have the right adhesive for the earlier dashes.
Just curious about how and why they did what they did back then. I'll definitely be watching for 72 Monte Carlos from now on. Thanks for the insight.
