hey all, i'm contemplating a manual steering conversion on my '72 malibu and i was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere to get a "high performance" manual steering box (isn't that an oxymoron??) or at least a decent rebuilt box. also, how much of my existing steering components and the like will need to be switched, and anyone know of anywhere to get those?
or am i just crazy, and should i just stick with the power steering?
thanks in advance

The gains of manual steering is less weight, less stuff in the engine compatment, less draw on the engine.
The dissavantages are finding a good box & pitman arm & heavy steering. If you plan on running a tire bigger than a pizza cutter you will develop very large fore arms. I have had several manual steer a-bodies and have converted them to power steering and would never have another manual steer a-body. This is my free opinion and of course you can do what you want to do.
