does anybody have pictures of the trailing arms for a 66 SS car. I pulled mine out and knowing that someone switched my 12 bolt for a 10 bolt I was wondering if they switched anything else back there. also what is the height of the rear springs when out of the car
thanks

If you really need pictures I can do that for you, but would make more sense for you to post pics of what you have for all to see then the people who really know can give you good advice.

Unloaded height of rear springs depends on what motor / options came with car . Does it have std susp or the F40 option.........get a Moog catalog or GM manual lots of info in there on springs

Rear Control arms ... you did not say upper or lower??

First I would measure the center to center lenght to ensure you have correct length ones and not ones that look correct but are shorter or maybe longer from later model Chevelle 1/4" makes a diff. ..they will alter your pinion angle .......what is this for a pure resto or ?????

Is it possible that an early Baltimore car would not have a 12 bolt rear, and the heavy duty rear suspension? This is also an original 4-speed car.

Look correct to me .... and no all would be 12 bolts , uppers should measure 12.80 in length from center of bolt holes. Does car have the "4spd " braces betwen upper and lower front control arm bolts

Should be pn on axle tube to identify if corrrect rear for 66

Does car have the "4spd " braces betwen upper and lower front control arm bolts More correctly called (IMO), Big Block braces, as they came on ALL Big Block equipped 66 Chevelles and El Caminos, not just 4-speed equipped cars but Powerglides and 3-speeds too.

I forget, but was the rear sway bar even an option, for 1966? The boxed lower arms would ONLY be for a factory rear sway bar v equipped car, otherwise all cars (10 or 12-bolt) would use the same lower arms... All upper arms were the same, BB/SB/6cyl (for 1966).

So I agree, those arms appear correct...

Height of rear springs... Thats real difficult to answer since (as stated above), different options necessitated different springs. Plus, the factory didn't list springs by free height, but rather they listed the installed ground clearance (and axle clearance) at several locations.

Also, since springs can sag over the years, its hard to say (did anyone pull the springs on a new car and measure them? Doubtful...

I agree. they look the same as the ones I pulled off when I changed over to Hotchkis bars. Mine also had the braces between the two bar connectng points.
