I am to the point of restoring my wheels. I was going to have a place color match them and have the rims powder coated. The only problem is thus far I'm not sure what the exact or "technical" name of the color the 71-72 ss 15x7 rims came with. I know say argent silver but not sure if that is right; looks kind of bright to me. If anything, my rims almost look like a gray/charcoal gray/cast color from factory. Anyone know what the name of the color is so I can have my rims powder coated the original color? Thanks!

Not the exact color but a lot of folks use cast iron grey, no one will know the difference.

Even if you get the color correct, I wonder how you can get the proper low luster and texture with powerdcoating? It would be great to closely replicate that with powdercoating.
Let us know how they turn out.

Like Mike said, the texture is what is difficult to replicate. They almost had a suede-like, rough cast to them.

I tried out cast iron gray in a spray can from NPD and it looked to me like a close color to the original; it leaves a rough texture and close to the right color. I thought it would be easier than this
