Found this doing a search on another site, I know this talks mostly about 70, but might help get a little closer. Looks like it might be out of a 74, but I'm no expert at this.
1970-76 Camaro Radio’s
1970-76 Am Radio’s With Product Number 7933241 And Am-fm Radio’s With Product Number 7933251 Fit The Following:
1970 Impala – 1971 New Body Sytle - New Radio Design
1970-72 Chevelle Monte Carlo El Camino
1970-76 Camaro
1970-72 Nova
The Radio Product Number 7933241 And 7933251 Were The Two Basic Radio Designs Used In The 1970’s For Chevelle
Nova Camaro And 1970 Impala
All 1970-76 7933241 And 7933251 Radio’s Have Those Part Numbers On The Front Of The Radio, Which Makes It More
Difficult To Know What Year Radio It Is With Out The Id Tag On The Side Of The Radio - The Green Dial Face Can Be
Changed Also
The 1969 Radio With The Green Dial Face Looks The Same As A 1970 Green Dial Face On The Front Of The Radio But Uses
A Completely Different Rear Radio Plug-in Harness And 1970 Style Radio Harnesses Will Not Plug Into The 1969 Radios’
The Differences Begin With Model Usage And Are Based On The Following
- Lens Color –am & Am-fm Radio’s W/ Green Dial - All 1970 Impala Chevelle Monte Carlo Nova
- Lens Color – Am Am-fm Radio’s W/ Blue Dial - All 1970 Camaro’s – All Models - Base Model Thru The Z28
- Lens Color – Am Am-fm Radio’s W/ Blue Dial - 1971-76 Camaro’s 71-72 Chevelle’s Nova’s
As Always With Chevrolet There May Be Exceptions To The Green Vs Blue Dial Usage But The Norm Is The Blue
Dial Face Was Used On All 1970 Camaro’s
If You Have A 1970 Camaro Radio With Model Number 01fpb1 Or 01ffp1 And A Green Dial Face With The Correct
1970 Camaro Am Or Am-fm Radio To Dash Support Bracket This Would Be The Exception
But Without The Original Id Tag With The Camaro Model Number - Correct Bracket On The Radio – Its Just A
Guess What Model The Radio Was From Since All 1970-76 Am And Am-fm Radio’s All Look The Same
1970 Camaro Am Radio Model Break Down
Model Number - 01fpb1 - Am Radio
Model Number - 01ffp1 - Am-fm Radio
- 0 1970
- 1 – Chevrolet Division
- The Letter Code In The Model Number Tag Designates The Body Model Usage
• “a” Chevelle Monte Carlo Nova
• “b” Pass Car – Impala
• “f” Camaro
- “pb1” Am Push Button
- “fm1” Am-fm”
The Radio To Dash Support Bracket Is What Determines The Model Usage “letter Code” Used Above
- “241” Am Radio For Camaro Was Model Number 01fpb1 Which Used A Camaro Am Radio To Dash Support Bracket
- “241” Am Radio For Impala Used Model Number 01apb1 Which Used An Impala Am Radio To Dash Support Bracket
- Both “241” Radio’s Are The Same Radio Except For
• Green Dial
• Radio To Dash Support Brackets
The Color Of The Lettering On The Radio Id Tag Changed A Few Times But I Don’t Have Much On This
- 1970-71 Black
- 1976 Red
1970-75 “241” And “251” Radio’s Use The External Fader Wire Assembly
1976 “241” And “251” Radio’s The Fader Was Now Internal And No Longer Required The External Fader Wire Assembly
Ray,
Thanks. Lots of info there. I can't believe there is so much detail associated with these radios. :clonk:
Looking at the first digit,. I guess it came out of a '74 Camaro? Not sure what the "X" means though. I always thought it was an original radio to this car. I have owned this car since 1984 and it was pretty unmolested when I bought it. I guess you never know.
4 = 1974 year
1 = Chevrolet
X = ????

Ray,
Not sure where you found that, but I found some mistakes.
Go by my site for reference:
www.chevelles.com/radiotech
Now, for the original poster's radio.
The radio you have is from a 1974 Chevy Nova.
41XFP1
4=1974 model year
1=Chevrolet Division
X=X body, compact Chevrolet (NOVA)
FP= AM/FM (non-stereo) pushbutton radio
1=First design run
:) :beers:
Thanks guys. Mystery solved.....except for how it got to be in my dash!
Pretty weird. Is it worth anything, or just another crappy AM/FM radio?
