Hi All, I've had my car for 19 years, A few years ago I changed from bench to buckets.but now I've noticed the seats are about 3/8 to 1/2 " to the outside of the car. the rear seat brackets are bolted on the inside holes on both inner and outer track. I beleve at the time thats what the instructions said. Since it is not an oe bucket car ,is that as good as it gets? Or is there a link to redo it ,I will have to cut the welds on the inner floor brackets, thanks.

Are you using the holes that your bench seat used on the outer side of your driver and passenger seat? Do you have only the brackets for the inside track on each seat? Do your lower side panels on your buckets seat rub your retractable seat belt plastic covers? If so it does get better than that. You need to buy the original style bucket seat brackets that are being reproduced today. Years ago everyone just used the bench seat outer holes and just welded the only brackets that were available in. Not correct. You need the front outer brackets also that relocate the position of the slide track. Now instead of using a bolt to fasten the track down you just need a whiz nut that goes on the tread provided with the small front outer bracket. The rear of the slides get bolted in the outer holes of the track in the existing bench seat holes. Now using the original style inner brackets and bolting the rear tracks on the outer holes everything should line up as it should. No longer will your seatbelts rub the lower panel on the outer edge of your buckets. There are other threads that show pictures to help with this process. Good luck.

Hi Dan I am looking at the NPD catalog , years ago I bought the bracket set for bucket seats that has two brackets. now below that is a 4 piece set two long and two short ,it looks like what you described.pg 7 item d. is that correct ? ,and yes the seats rub against the retractor covers. Thanks Pat.

There is a sticky right at the top of this section "Bench to Bucket Conversion" with some good pics and diagrams that should be helpful. :thumbsup:

Hello Patrick;
I do not have a new NPD catalog. That does sound like what you need. The short one is real little and is used on the front of the seat on the outside seat track. If you install the original sytle brackets that we are talking about correctly you will not have the seat belt rubbing anymore. The inner brackets run the full length of the inner seat tracks. I hope this is not too confusing.

Sounds great. To post pictures just click on the symbol that looks like a paper clip that is just above the reply meesage box. Then you should be able to browse your pictures and upload them. I recently learned how to do this myself.
