I have a 1967 Chevelle convt. SS clone that I am currently working on. I have installed new SS springs front & rear along with new control arm bushings. I am satisfied with the height of the front of the car but not the rear. The rear seems to sit 2-3 inches too low giving the car a downward rake to the rear. Has anyone tried using ElCamino or stationwagon rear springs to adjust the height or would this not change the height & simply give me a harsher ride ? I would rather not use air shocks if I can avoid it.

I had what I believe were wagon springs in the back of my 67 hardtop and going to stock springs dropped it close to 2". The ride was no more harsh with one spring or the other. It did have some serious wheel hop and some of that may have been contributed by the old bushings at the time.
P.S. When I was looking for springs for my car, I think I remember springs specific to the ragtop.
If you bought moog springs and still have the part numbers, you could call Springs n' Things (http://www.espo.com/) and double check that you have the correct springs. Also, they can tell you differences in ride heights with different springs.

I noticed the same problem with my 66 Malibu a few years ago when I replace the springs and shocks. So I bought a spacer thing which consisted of about a 4" round plate a 3" round cylinder which was about 3" tall as well. Then I turned down the cylinder on a lathe so that it was only about 2" tall. It bolts in at the bottom of the coil spring. It sets on top of the spring perch on the rear end. It works great. I think I bought it at Firestone about 7 years ago. Napa stores might have them too. I would post a pic but I don't know how yet.

I would double check to see if you have the correct spring for the convertible...
I replaced my springs a few years ago (Hotchkis 1" drop in front and new "stock" rears. Sits much higher in the rear (too high for me).

Thanks to all who replied with suggestions. I got in touch with 'Springs & Things' as was suggested by Rusted11. I found them to be very helpful. They recommended going with station wagon springs to raise the rear approximately 2 inches. I believe this will be exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks again.

Shoot me an e-mail, I have a pair of rear springs that are like new if your interested in buying them. I have a picture how my Chevelle used to sit with them on before I replaced them and lowered my Chevelle.
