Just to let eveyone know that a 1979 Trans Am 8" dual diaphram brake booster is NOT a direct swap into a 1970 Chevelle.
Problems include a different style pushrod to brake pedal attachment, a diffent mounting angle to the firewall and a different mounting hole pattern to the firewall.
The first one could easilty be fixed using a hacksaw and a die, but the problem of mounting to the firewall would not easily be fixed. I considered grinding off the rivits and swaping the mounting brakets but I figured rather than risk ruining the new booster and my core I will return it for refund instead.
This still leaves me with a problem; brake booster selection is the only thing keeping my car off the road fresh from its new 4-wheel disc brake and b-body spindle swap.
As I mentioned in a previous post, I accidently broke my old booster's pushrod plastic guide into the master cylinder so I am in the market for a new replacement. Does anyone have any suggestions for an upgrade over my stocker. I can't justify MP Brakes prices so I am looking for a stock GM piece, just from another application. Any sugggestion or should I just replace back to stock???

Yep, you will need to open up the mounting holes slightly for it to mount up. I cut and threaded the rod to make it the proper length. A friend of mine just brazed the bracket on the rod.
Been running one on my 72 for about 4 years. Got me to work again this morning.
