Hey Guys,

I am going through the process of putting the clutch linkage together on my car and had a few questions. I was reassembling today and noticed that I pulled three old plastic washers from inside the z bar tube, but my new kit only had two. Does one of the three washers go on the block side of the z bar tube and two on the frame side? I was having a hard time telling from the assembly manual. And if you guys have an assembly manual handy, what are #5 (part #3743360 seal) and #6 (part #382588 p. washer) in the clutch linkage diagram? My kit only came with a fiber material washer.

Thanks,
Brian

The felt goes between the end of the zbar and the frame clip.
In this picture the felt is next to the washer then the frame clip and past the frame clip you have a star lock washer and a nut.
I made mine pretty tight and made sure it had smooth movement when tight.

If you can find the Brass (Providing they Still Exist) Bushings are much better for the Bell Crank Ends- Either way you should Lube them every 2 Seasons with Molly Coat.

Felt Dirt Covers next to the Engine is a Good Idea as it keeps Crap from Contaminating the Teflon Bushings in the Z Bar and make for longer maintainence intervals.

As far as Shimming the Bell Crank Ends and Tranny Shift Studs you pretty well have to use Copper Washers Filled to a Snug Fit.

Could be just a Dirt Plug for the Frame Mount end of the Z Bar.

Use your Common Sense build the Z Bar Tight, Dirt Free and Lube it if you want it to be Accurate without Binding and Last.

By the time you Pack a Z bar with Molly Coat (my recommendation rather then Grease) I see no reason for the Grease Nipple as by then you should take it apart for Cleaning and Servicing - every 5 years or until you notice slack ;o)

Slack or Bad Motor Mounts will attribute to Z Bar Wear.

Just to clarify the washer i speak of is the same as the ones that the ball stud off of the frame bracket pivots on.

No, it's just eastwoods spray gray or cast blast spray paint..
