I just completed the installation of Dynomax Hemi (long case) Super Turbo mufflers on my SS. These replaced the 12 yr old regular (short case) Super Turbos that were on it. The old ones were still in good shape but had gotten a harsh "blat" sound under power, probably from the aging fiberglass packing. Not super loud but just not a pleasing sound (and a little louder than I like). The new ones are noticeably quieter but still have some sound, louder than stock but not as loud as most aftermarket mufflers. And no harsh "blat sounds". Just a muted deep, pleasant tone. the appearance is close to a stock muffler also. I'm very happy with them. The car has Dynomax ceramic coated headers and 2 1/2" exhaust.

 I have a pair of those on my GS 455 convertible and they sound just as you described.

I'm pretty happy with my 17749s. They are pretty mellow but not quiet either. I have the same exhaust as what Von describes. I'm curious if I would percieve it as quieter if I changed from turn down tail pipes behind the bumper to straight.

Mine has the Dynomax 17769 Super Turbos Von. Combined with three inch pipe front to back, H pipe & Hooker Headers they are LOUD. That's just the way I like it

Mine are the 17749, hemi ST, offset/offset, 2 1/2" pipe. Don with 3" pipe I bet they ARE loud. I don't mind a little sound at the rear of the car but don't like loudness inside.
