I'm still in the decision-making process on my chassis, and am undecided whether I'll box my frame or not.
How much will it help the handling, and is it worth the effort?
The car will be 95% street driven, and a little drag racing, and some autocrossing.
Will I regret it if I don't do it?
Performance-wise it'll run high 13s initially, but I'd like to get down low 13/high 12 eventually out of the 95 LT1 graemlins/thumbsup.gif
If I box it, I'll be making my own crossmember brackets, and using an elky crossmember.

I don't think you would regret it. The frames on these cars are pitifully flimsy considering the size/weight of the car. Anything you do to stiffen and reinforce it is going to be an improvement. Frame flex contributes to that 'mushy' feeling you get with the handling on these old cars. The suspension should be absorbing the loads, not the frame.
Is it worth the effort? If you already have the car seperated from the chassis I'd say absolutely. If you have the equipment to do it, it's a simple job.
What Brian (69boo307) said... Also remember the toll that time takes, plus you mentioned autocrossing. With far stickier tires than stock you will see higher loads on the chassis.
If you are not going for stock and you are planning on aggressive use, do yourself a favor and box it. There are some weak areas up front just behind the A-arms; perhaps you could fill in a few redundant holes (for shipping), then finish the frame off nice! Just be glad that you're not fixing an old rusty unibody.

I gusseted the control arm mount on the rear of the front control arms, and I fully welded ALL of the factory seams. (I worked as a welder for a while, so I know what I'm doing there!!!)
Thanks for the advice guys! I knew if I didn't do it, I'd regret it... just needed someone to convince me it was necessary smile.gif
