I thought I read about someone besides Gardner, who are reproducing the original style tailpipe hangers for 70 Chevelles. I have a friend who is interested in purchasing a set, but I can find them, or remember where I saw them for sale. I thought it was an ebay item, but I don't see them there either. Anyone know where to find them. They were priced reasonably, if I remember correctly.

Dave Birdwell knows who has them. They sell on ebay. I used to have a link somewhere but I can't find it.

They are on ebay, I believe it's The Parts Place has them. $59, and they are more correct than the ones that gardiner sells....

Yes they are. I had to rebuild the originals on my 72, as that high dollar exhaust place in the east wouldn't sell just the hangers.... (and they weren't 100% correct anyway....)

Glad that someone stepped up and made a CORRECT part for a change... at a reasonable price...

I remember years ago when these were an item a lot of guys were looking for but Gardner was the only place that had them and wouldnt sell them seperate. Im not a 70 guy so I have no reason to search for these but im glad to see these are available on thier own though.

I do have a 69 though? How different are these from the 69 hangers?

Jim, I wouldn't be surprised to find it's the same exhaust system that these guys sell.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330403733141&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT just at a higher price. I used this set on my convertible, it fit really well, sounded nice....

We picked up a set of the Inline tube hangers in Carlisle today. They were $59.00 for the set, and they look real good.

Are we saying this is Gardners competition...hmmm? So, they are factory look with a little rumble. Price is almost 40% cheaper than Gardner. Might be something to consdider...
I took a look at the web page, but did not see the resonators and exhaust tips. Maybe by the time you add them up it will be at Gardners price.
Guess I will take a better look at them during fall Carlisle.
BTW I did see them at Carlisle never thought of stopping by.

Just called them again...3rd time now...
Said Part Number - INL11085 is for non resonators.
Part Number - INL11081 is for resonators.

So I am still unsure on what to order.

It really shouldn't matter, they clamp at the rear by the extension, which is the same size regardless if you have resonators or not. I would say to get the ones with the resonators....

Order the ones for the resonators. If they don't fit and won't exchange them, I'll buy them from you.

Dave is correct, INL11081 is what the factory used on the assembly line for the '70 model year.

The GM assembly manual for '70 also shows INL11085, but this was just a carry over blue print placed in the manual from the '69 model year, from what I have be told.

The only way that you could get the correct style tail pipe hanger for '70 before Inline Tube started reproducing them was to buy a costly kit from Gardner, restore your original ones, or look for NOS.
