Hopefully you guys can help me out. My drivers side quarter window in my 70 chevelle is giving me fits. I looks like the back part of the window (the end toward the trunk) is closer to the outside of the car and the front (toward the driver door) is more leaning towards the interior area. When the window goes about halfway down, it gets really hard to turn and acts like it's going to break something if I keep turning. I just bought the car a few weeks ago and the window was laying in there not hooked up when I got it. When I pulled it out, I noticed that the very bottom plastic roller was broken. I've replaced it and I'm now trying to reinstall it. I have tried adjusting a bolt here or there and I seem to be getting nowhere. I'm not sure there is an adjustment for the way I need the window to move. Could the crank assembly be out of line? Help!

If the window tracks are causing the window to be that out of line, that is also probably causing the binding.
Where the tracks attach to the inner body there are long screw studs. They can be turned in and out of the tracks and can be slided in their mounting slots to adjust the orientation of the window in six different directions. You need to locate these mounting studs and adjust them accordingly. The trick is to remove the mounting nuts and then turn the studs with a screw driver. Problem is that the studs are probably rusty so you might have to get creative in how to get them moving. A little penetrating oil on the studs where they thread into the window track frames ahead of time would be a really good idea even if they do look clean.
Also, make sure the new roller you installed on the window frame is of the right size to slide smoothly through the tracks. If it is too large it will bind. It's also possible that the track has been bent or dented thus causing the binding as you roll down the window.
It is possible to break the crank mechanism so don't force anything.

I'm not sure which studs you are talking about and I don't think I can use a screwdriver on anything hooked to the window. I found a pic in another forum and I tried to attach it. Hopefully it worked? If so, that's exactly how the inside of my car looks.
Maybe your right about the track being bent though. The only way I can get it to go all the way down is by rocking the window back and forth towards the front then the back of the car while I roll it down. Is there a certain order that you should get each adjustment bolt lined up and tightened?
I have the quarter cut out for a skin to go on this weekend so I have good access to it. I just can't seem to get it.
PS. Pic says it's too large to upload so I'm posting the link to the pic.

It would appear the system is somewhat different in '70 than on a '65 but the concept is the same. Look over the tracks and the bolts in adjustable slots to determine how things adjust. No two of these cars is exactly the same so there is always a lot of adjustment available in the system. It's also possible that the crank arm that raises and lowers the window is damaged and the crank itself could be failing.
Compare the one side to the other to determine if anything is out of shape or out of place (I'm assuming the other side works fine).

I feel for ya, these things are a pain. Takes alot of trial and error. The Fisher Body book is a good reference.

OK. I have the window running pretty smoothly up and down but as the top of the window rolls down, it rubs across top corner of the brace that the rollers hook to. It rubs pretty hard and I'm sure that when I put the chrome trim back, it's gonna tear it up. I guess the brace that runs the rollers must be bend or twisted because my adjusting bolt to get the top of the window to lean further out is maxed out. It leans in at the top when rolled down BUT when it's rolled up it matches up good with the door window and the top window seal? Is another 5 hours needed messing with this window???
