: Another SSM bars pinion angle question

I've read all the posts I could find on pinion angle and this is what I came up with.

I have -1.5 down at the transmission seal flange - 3.5 at the pinion. So I assume that I need to move the pinion up to +1.5 to equall zero driveline angle but then adding -2 to compensate for windup giving a finished pinion angle of -.5???? Did I actually get this right or am I out of line here?

The second part is, do I have the correct U-joint working angle? How do you measure?

HillJack, I've been through this before and though that I had found all the tech information associated with pinion angle combos/options. Then I was referred to http://www.vibratesoftware.com/html_help/html/Diagnosis/Propshaft/Propshaft_Angles.htm#Calculating%20working%20angle s: (sorry for the long URL) Take a look at this...it provides a lot of tech detail regarding allowable working angles, and acceptable drivetrain geometry options (i.e. up, up, up, or down, up, up, etc.) Anyway, I've got the transmission pointing down about 3.5 degrees and the rear pinion also pointing down. I set it up per the guidance in the URL above and eliminated my driveshaft vibration at 70mph. My rear working angle was about 6.5 degrees. I used adjustable upper control arms to reduce this angle. Bottom line is that the URL address above was the most comprehensive breakdown of drivetrain geometry problems that I have ever run across....hope it helps......Scott
