when I ordered
the after market performance oil pump shaft I orderd, I ordered it to match the melling high vol oil pump that I had purchased.
when I was installing the pump I noticed that (1) the shaft didnt lock into place (2) it has about 1/4 inch play between the pump and the block.

My question is... is it soposed to be like that?

it doesnt look like it to me.

That is the way it is supposed to be. It cant go anywhere once the distributor is in place.
