: A couple pictures of my Beaumont
66 Beau Mar 14th, 10, 5:29 PM The sun is shining and even though there's still a couple feet of snow to melt before I get her out to play, I've been thinking about my favourite toy. thought I would share a couple photos..

I have the original engine & trans stored safely way under my work bench. It has the 350 HO and a 700R4 in it now which are great for cruising.
And finally, one from the driver's seat....

Looking forward to summer!!!
64CDNSS Mar 14th, 10, 6:59 PM That's a beauty!!
Keith Tedford Mar 14th, 10, 7:09 PM Beautiful, but then I am prejudiced. My first car was a new red '66 like that. Black bucket seats, 283, automatic, radio, rear speaker, HD suspension. The HD suspension may have included a 12 bolt rearend but I didn't know about such stuff back then and don't recall. That car of yours would look nice in my garage. ;)
jonathanch Mar 14th, 10, 8:23 PM Nice looking car. What wheels are on it?
ak 67SD Mar 14th, 10, 8:36 PM Great looking car, nice colour combo! you should add it to the beaumont registry at www.canadianponcho.ca

Bob80Elcam Mar 14th, 10, 8:49 PM Didn't know Beaumonts had so much badging stating Beaumont. First time I think I saw pictures of one. Nice car, thanks for the pics.
Keith Tedford Mar 14th, 10, 8:54 PM You can just barely seem the emblem in the driver side grille. That says Beaumont too. I still have my original one around here somewhere. One neat thing was that if you ordered a 396 Beaumont, you got the exact same car trim on the outside. Just a V8 emblem for engine size.

There's a bunch of Beaumont trim inside too. "Sport Deluxe" emblems similar to the one on the front fender on the glove box and both door panels, Beaumont spear on the horn (as shown) and on the console, "Beaumont" on the radio. Lots of Beaumont-only pieces, especially when you consider there were less than 3400 of them made (total 2 door hard tops).
Oddly enough, it doesn't say Pontiac anywhere but we don't want to open that can of worms :noway: :boring:
YankeeRodder Mar 14th, 10, 10:41 PM Man I never realized how much they were blended with Pontiac! The dash is right out of the GTO-Tempest. They even split the grill ala Poncho. Pretty car never the less, you have a winner there.
1969 El Camino Dan Mar 14th, 10, 10:43 PM Sweet Sixty Six you're drivin' Mr. Tech Team (add your name under your handle, if you don't mind)
Love those wacky Beaumonts. I've seen a few living here in the NW & visiting TGWN on many occasions.
I really like the rear end treatment w/ the unique tail light lenses.
What is that chrome speaker grille looking thing under the radio, eh?
Speaking of badges, let's see a close pic of that cowl trim tag.
I've got an Oshawa built Malibu.

Wheels are 16 inch Torque thrust II's (specs are in the database under Wheels & Tires).

I have been meaning to get my numbers posted there but I forgot how to pull the build date from the codes. I had passed the numbers on to Dave W at Canadian Chevelles & Beaumonts several years ago.
Keith
Thanks for the kind words. Mine has the F40 suspension, but the rear is a 10 bolt (original 283). The numbers on the rear check out as period correct but I can't say for certain it hasn't been changed out - though it's a pretty low mileage car and the engine/tranny were original.

The "speaker thing" is actually a dealer installed, 120V in-car heater. I pulled it out (it never gets driven when it's cold) and stored it with the engine & trans. It still works. There's a set of AutoMeter gauges there now.
I have all the original equipment stored away and have kept modifications down to where I can return it to original in a weekend. It'd be a long weekend now, but it wouldn't be too hard.
The details are
73617 = model number for a Beaumont Custom V8 two door sport coupe
M = lower/upper body exterior paint colour Aztec Bronze
393 = interior trim code for ivory vinyl
A02 = tinted windshield
A51 = Sports Option package or front bucket seats
F40 = HD front & rear suspension
J50 = power brakes
K05 = block heater
M35 = powerglide two speed automatic transmission
N40 = power steering
PO1 = full wheel covers
P58 = 7.35-14-4 ply white wall tires
U63 = AM push-button radio
It was built on the afternoon shift on June 9, 1966.
The Sport Deluxe was an option in 1966 (option code A51) - became a separate model number in '67.

I'll post the numbers over at canadianponcho too.

It's helpful that some components are the same as the GTO's. I WISH the rear tail lights & back up lights matched the (easy to buy) 1965 GTO. They're similar but not interchangeable.
Note that the front signal light lenses are clear. That's a Beaumont-only feature as far as I've been able to determine. The Chevelle ones are identical - except they're orange.
hypa Mar 22nd, 10, 4:06 PM The dash is right out of the GTO-Tempest.
:thumbsup:
I found that out when my fuel guage went dead, and I needed a replacement. The Chevelle piece was completely different, but with the help of a local shop we were able to find a Pontiac guage. Perfect fit, and you can't tell it's not an original.

That's a neat piece of info.
And such a great looking 66'.
Rmchevelle Mar 30th, 10, 11:20 AM Very nice! :thumbsup:
