Hi, Everytime i drive my car and then park it, it makes a funny "clink" noise, sometimes even when I'm driving but not constantly. It seems like the shocks because i had the engine out one time and it still made that noise when I leaned on it. The shocks are KYB's and I did a bounce test in the front, it bounces once. Are these shocks bad? Should I replace them because it's kinda imbarrassing when I'm at car shows. thanks, Eric

What's the upper A-arm bushings look like? The sound could be the sleeve hitting if the rubber is shot.

The only way the front shocks would make those kind of noises is if the 2 lower mount bolts are loose/broken or the upper rubber mount bushings are worn out or installed wrong.

The upper a-arm bushings are in place but has little tiny cracks and I just replaced the lower ones a year ago

Also the rubber on the top of the shock is all there and it doesn't look worn, I'll check out the bolts on the bottom to see if there tightened. Should I torque these, if so how much?

I would be really suprised if the shocks were the cause of the noise but I've seen stranger things.Have someone bounce the car while you listen under it.When you hear the noise or narrow it down to an area put your hand on the suspected part, most times you can feel the noise also.Needless to say be careful where you put your hands and head while doing this.
The shock bolts just need to be tight.Check your upper ball joints for excessive play, they make a distinctive clacking sound when going over bumps and dips when they're ready to fail.

Once had an Olds that broke the A-Arm when the bushing was shot. It frequently made a clink, that was a little more like a "clunk". (Or was it a bonk?) ;)

Anyway, the shifting against the arm is what made the noise and the repetition finally caused it to fail entirely.

The noise only occurs when the car has just been driven and it's parked

So you're saying the noise occurs (primarily) after the car has been driven, but when the car is no longer moving?

Wonder if it's a heat-related expansion or contraction issue??

I tighten the bolts on the bottom of the shock, they were loose a little. Now the car makes more noise after the car is off. I got some other shocks from my brother(KYB-2)so I'll just go ahead and put those on in the front.
