What is a good backspacing to look for on a 15 inch wheel for a 72 chevelle. I found a set of TTII's that are priced very reasonable. All four wheels have 225/60/15 on them. I am going to measure the backspace when go look at them tomorrow, just wanting a little help on what numbers to look for that are a good fit on my car.

15x7's are good between 3.5"-4" bs and 15x8's between 4"-4.5" bs for a 72 Chevelle.

If they are 15X10 they will need to be 5.5BS

Thanks for the help. They are 7's and 8's. Maybe my search for a different tire/wheel could be over today.

15x10 wheel, to be perfectly centered in the rear wheelwell, needs a 5.5" backspace.
Every inch change in wheel width needs a corresponding 1/2" backspace change to stay centered.
Good luck on your wheel choice, it's kind of a big decision, isn't it?

Thats no joke! I have been wrestling over what wheels to put on my car for awhile now. It would be a lot harder if I didn't have a place like here to find answers to my questions.

Will that 15x10/5.5bs wheel work on a '72 with no modification?

Yes, they are the same wheelwell as a '70. Note SOME people have really minor issues, like if their axle isn't centered - but that's easily fixed, too.
