: Front Sway Bar

I rebuilt the front end of my '67 malibu using a polygraphite kit from PST that included the idler arm. I also installed a 1 1/8" G-Max front sway bar that came from PST also. My problem is that the sway bar "rubs" that idler arm. There's not much pressure on it, but it does touch. Is this a concern? I've thought about shimming the sway bar mounts away from the frame so that it will clear, but would probably have to use 1/2" shims to do it.

Thanks again for all the help,

Mine touches too. PST parts on a '69.

It won't be a problem mechanically but I guess it could wear the rubber boot of the idler arm and/or the finish on the sway bar. I haven't noticed anything like that in a 1,000+ miles.

same as mine pst kit idler arm is way fatter (technical term) than the stock one and the sway bars are meant for stock locations, dont hink about upgraded idler arm i guess... ive got a 1/ 1/4 suspension techniques sway and its not quite rubbing but right there 1/8 of an inch away as long as it doesnt interfear with the turning radius shouldnt be a problem....

Thanks for the replies. Makes me feel better knowing that I'm not the only one with this condition.

Thanks again,
