: BMG Group Purchase
ss396boy Feb 3rd, 03, 1:38 PM I was wondering if anyone might be interested in getting something together for a group purchase for the BMR Fabrications upper/lower controls arms.
How many people might be interested?? We need 10 people to complete the transaction. For more info on past purchases check here:

rlhelton Feb 13th, 03, 2:50 AM They make and sell suspension components, More specifically rear control arms. In the past they have given discount to Team Chevelle members who participated in a group purchase.
I couldn't afford to get them last time, but If we can get a group purchase together, I'll get them this time.
Here's their web site: http://www.bmrfabrication.com/A-Body.htm

They look bullet-proof and the price is pretty good already compared to some of the others I've seen.

on my second gen camaro, it is recommended to use stock rubber on the front end (binding problems?) just wonder if there are pros/cons to each set up.

Huevotoro Feb 14th, 03, 9:49 PM Guys, I am thinking about getting in on this for lowers and uppers. However, how do the BMR arms compare to the Global west with the delalum on one side and the aircraft spherical bearing on the other. Also, I was wondering is all that talk about the polyurethane bushings true---will it make my ride suck. I have a 70 coupe chevelle with a 454 that I use for street driving and I don't get on it much except for red lights and a little fun now and then. Would these arms be worth it??? They sure are a lot cheaper than the Hotchkis and Global west kits. Do they come with the mounting hardware??
MAXX2 Feb 14th, 03, 9:54 PM BUY THEM!
We were in on the first group purchase, and they fit great, look great!
Price on the first group purchase was "GREAT"!
Still need to test them out, however, the other Team Members who were in on the first two (2) group purchases can chime in on the bushings (Poly versus Rubber).
Search the forums for any info you need on fit, etc.

Huevotoro Feb 14th, 03, 10:14 PM Guys, all the talk sounds great but no one says how they work at all, or with poly/poly or poly rubber, anyone going to chime in with some gouge. Also, they have a note on the website that says clearancing may have to be done for some OE 12 bolt housings, what does that mean???
rusted11 Feb 15th, 03, 6:14 AM I bought a set of adjustable uppers for my 67 through the last group purchase. I ordered them with rubber on the frame side and poly on the rearend. The lowers are stock boxed(F41) with rubber.
The ride quality is no different than the stock arms with all rubber.
On the drivers side arm, I had to clearance about a 1/2" area at a 45° to clear the rearend differential housing.
This was on a 12 bolt. The 10 bolt is more open in this area.
Also, before you press in the drivers side bushing make sure to trim the poly ring that comes with the bushing.
I figured this out the hard way and had to press that bushing back out.
After having to make these modifications, I talked to the guys(Larry? it's been a while) at BMR told them what had to be done to make them fit. I believe others were doing the same.
So, maybe they have corrected this. You might ask next time one of you talk to them.
One last thing...Do a search of this forum on BMR. There is plenty to read, including pros & cons from people with a lot more engineering knowledge than myself.

Huevotoro Feb 18th, 03, 2:29 PM Guys, I have a question. I was underneath my car today and the lowers would work great for me. I noticed 2 things about the uppers though. 1. My exhaust pipes run so that they are just barely touching the sides of the uppers, are the BMR uppers thicker or thinnner than stock upper control arms 2. Also, I have some sort of no hop set up that I did not know about that moves the chunk side of my upper rear control arms up about 3 inches and also has a solid mount on the rearend side. Will that present a problem for me with the BMR arms, 1 clearance with the exhaust pipes? and 2. as far as bolting in to that no hop set up. Thanks
Professor_SS Feb 18th, 03, 4:11 PM would the discount extend to a rear sway bar if I bought lowers and the rear bar?

I already have a set, but here are some answers to some of the questions:
First, about them being thicker... yes, the metal is about 1/4" thick as compared to the stock metal of like 1/8" thick. They even come with a longer bolt for the upper end of the upper arm.
The arm come with poly bushings... I can't recall if they were installed or not, but I re-lubed them anyway. You do get your choice of color on the arms, but I think the bushings only come in red. They are actually just using the Prothane bushings...
Not sure on the no-hop compatability issues... these arms are designed to be a direct replacement to the stock arms...
Good luck,

I submitted my order online without specifying the bushings(I missed the extra info box on the final form, but I did see that it was there), I called them up and talked to Frank (nice guy btw) and he pulled up my order and added the note to have the poly/rubber bushings. No problem!

Direct from their website:
If you are looking for increased cornering capabilities with decreased body roll, BMR sway bars are the answer. Front bars are made from 1.25" cold formed steel to better resist torsional fatigue and retain their "memory" far longer than conventional bars. This front bar is over 400% more rigid than the stock 7/8" swaybars. Rear solid bar is a beefy 1" diameter and comes complete with new Grade 8 mounting hardware. Provided with Prothane mounting bushings and endlink kits. Available standard in your color choice of red or black powdercoat, additional colors also available by special order.
So I would say only 1 size for frt and 1 for rear.

MAXX2 Feb 21st, 03, 9:30 PM We didn't see the link on their page to order the sway bars thru the group purchase.
Anyone?
We purchased the control arms (Adj. Uppers) in the first group purchase.

Staged67GSPWR Feb 24th, 03, 9:21 PM so when do we actually get these?
Thanks
George
RAMBO Feb 26th, 03, 1:53 PM Any idea when these will ship? They got the minimum 10 orders for the Arms right?
I've been watching my credit card account online, and they have not billed it yet... (I ordered on 2/19)
ponjohn Feb 26th, 03, 3:45 PM Looks like the Group Purchase is over?

They had a minimum of 10 orders, and a maximum of 25 orders... I don't think they reached 25, but i don't know how long they would hold it open for. i would assume more than 1 week.
Professor_SS Feb 26th, 03, 4:51 PM #1, we don't get the $10 discount on the bars unless 10 are ordered????
#2, max 25 orders????? what kind of sense does that make? I'd think that any company that could tie into 50 or 500 orders would if they are only knocking off 15% and less than 10% on the bars.
It says on the original group purchase site that they will ship march 3. I'm hoping to get both that I ordered, they look like they'll work great on my 72,and look good also but I'm not going to jump through hoops to get a company to sell me anything. I can live with the boxed ones I have now and with out a rear sway bar for now.
I'm corn
ponjohn Feb 26th, 03, 5:03 PM Yes, I went to the gp site and clicked on GP button and it said the a-body gp is over?
Actually, this go-round, the web site said they needed a minimum of 10 orders to start shipping and would hold the GP open until March 31st or until 20 orders where received! NOT 25! Looks like they got their 20 already...
