I just spent last night removing the old air shocks, adding the Edelbrock frame braces (#5212), the air ride 1000 rear air bag kit, and a pair of kyb's. I pumped up the airbags to max inflation....and they didn't lift the car a bit! It feels a little stiffer, but no lift whatsoever... It's possible that I've got lift springs on there, I suppose... Any thoughts? Can I add some sort of spacer above/below the airbags? Anybody else encountered this problem?

Never used airbags on my chevelle, but did on my 80 Malibu Wagon. Lifted the back end about 1.5-2" above stock.

why not try wagon springs? springs are only 90 to $125.

the air ride 1000 rear air bag kit Checking the Air Ride Technologies website;
http://ridetech.com/productinfo/coolride.asp
The GM A-body rear KIT is part# 20800 (not 1000)... Looking at the pictures of the kit, it appears to have spacers that might raise the car up slightly (1-1/2 to 2 inches?)...
Maybe someone sold you a generic, older and/or incomplete kit, or just the air bags themselves... Maybe you can buy the spacers separately...
they didn't lift the car a bit! It feels a little stiffer, but no lift whatsoeverI think most of the air bag kits on the market nowdays are made for lowered cars. So they can be real low in shows, etc but at an acceptible ride height on the street... I haven't seen a kit (for cars) in a long time that was made to RAISE the car above stock levels...

I put the AirLift 1000 in my 70 elky this past spring- It EASILY lifted the rear of the car 1" over the stock look- Fully inflated 1.5"-2"
Maybe you already have wagon springs... Does your car already sit higher than stock? Did you used to have your air shocks pumped way up before?
Air bags definitely don't lift it like air shocks do- They really aren't made for lifting the car up- they are really for SUPPORTING it..
From talking to people before i installed mine, I heard people said they would not lift it at all- to people saying up to 3" lift... So i guess results vary.
If your airshockes were pumped way up before, you can't really expect the air bags to lift it to that level.

</font>[/QUOTE]Just so you know... He is talking about Air Lift Companies air springs/air bags- Check here: http://www.airliftcompany.com/al1000.htm
Not the full air bag suspension kit to replace the springs and shocks like you are thinking... These air bags go inside the stock coil springs to add support them. When valved separately they will help cornering too.

im using the airlift dragbags, which are a little different than the airlift 1000. they are shorter than the stock springs im using and fully inflated i might be lucky to get 1.5"-2" of lift out of them. they really arent designed to lift the car, they are meant to aid in load leveling and help with traction issues.
