I yanked my sway bar bushings and ordered new ones from Ground Up. They look too small. Can someone tell me if the 15/16 sway bar, and my sway bar bushing clamps (brackets) are original for a 68? I took a picture of the clamp and the new bushing I have now. I thought a new bushing should fit tightly into the clamp. As old as the mounting bolts were, I assumed this was the original clamp.

I just went thru this on my '71 Elky. Notice that the bushing is taller than the clamp? When it starts to compress the height, it will squixh out sideways and fill the bracket just fine.

I disagree ... when I put the 1 1/4" front sway bar on my El Camino I ordered bushings for the donor vehicle as I was using those brackets. When they came in, they were like yours, I had the tall bushing, but the fat bracket. I had them look up the bushings for another year vehicle and got the right ones. I don't think those bushing you have are right ... yeah, they might compress and take up some of the area, but I don't think they're right.

Thanks for the info, I ordered a different set from the local autostore and they look correct. They are still taller and thinner than the bracket, but they look like they'll squish out just fine. The ones I got from Ground Up (pictured above) are MUCH smaller, and obviously wrong. The catalogue isn't clear about which sway bar you might have, just "Malibu" or "SS".
