One of my projects that I'm just getting back to is a frame off restoration on a '65 Impala. (I know its not a Chevelle, but I value your advice, so I hope you don't mind the question.)
The frame is blasted and repainted. And I just put the rear suspension back together. But the coil springs don't want to stay in their top pockets in the frame when I tighten the bolts at the bottom of the springs at the links. The problem likely is that, without the body on the car, there is not enough weight on the frame to keep the springs seated. I tied the frame to the rear axle, which helped a bit, but the springs still don't stay seated properly.
Any experience with this? Any ideas?
Thanks.
