Hello everyone, is it possible to use or modify 7,5” 10-bolt from a 79 malibu and use it on 1970 chevelle?

Not the same, there may be a kit, but the diff is weak. The 10 bolt in the 70 is an 8.2 originally.

the brackets and angles of said brackets are not correct for the 70-chevelle.
the 79axle is 7.5'' and not even as strong as the 8.2''

to modify would be more work than needed ......
i've just noticed where you are from;
and to use this rear axle you would need to build or modify all 4-control arms to properly connect and align the axle in the correct location.

the brakes and e-brakes should connect.
the u-joint is different design but should be the same 1310-type/size.

would be better to rebuild the current 70-axle assembly even if broken or find a better replacement axle from a 64-72 chevelle or other GM A-body car. :)
good luck and welcome to the site

The axle that I’m currently using has 2:42 gearing and is a modified 8,2” pontiac axle, and Yes im from tiny little Iceland so there are not many axles Laing around.

Are these the only models that heave the same axle? (64-72 chevelle and GM A-body cars)?

el camino, 70-72monte carlo, (maybe early Grand Prix=i think)

should check out the 73-77 chevelle/el camino and other GM A-body cars
i believe have the correct lower mounting brackets and correct width, but the upper mounts are different and would require modified upper control arms, best to measure the mounting points and from drum-to-drum
this group of axles has the stronger 8.5''-ring gear also.....:)

I had a 79 7.5" rear on a previous chevelle 64 I owned, never thougt of it untill I was going to change gears and found out it only was a 7.5":( so went 12 bolt instead.

It had same brackets for the lower control arms but different springpads so the were changed the ears had not right location but the widht seems right oem arms worked but gave wrong pinion angle but with my oem adjustable arms it worked. The widht is narrower think total is 58".
So if it is the only option you can make it fit with adjustable uppers and relocated springpads but it will be 3" narrover then a stock 10 or 12 bolt.

I found this 10-bolt, 1971 pontiac Lemans axle that I can purchase for a fair price, can anyone tell me is it the same as GM 10-bolt? and is it going to fit the 1970 chevelle.

the rear axle will bolt in properly and the u-joint should be the same design 1310-series.
the difference on these axles is they are non c-clip style and the gear choices are limited, but this is a much better match for your 70-chevelle.
the axles are a retained by a bolt on flange at the brake backing plate area.
same basic style axle was found on buick, pontiac, oldsmobile cars from 64-72.

Your better off using that Pontiac axle then a later 7.5 10 bolt.
