I am researching 1969 Kansas City Body Build Sheets. I have two examples of these sheets from two of my cars, but I am having problems trying to figure out all of the codes. Is there a link that lists the codes for the Kansas City Body Build Sheets? If there is not a link, we could compile our information to have a comprehensive list for all of the codes.
For an example box 136-137 shows the following:
QUANTY – 5
SIZE - F70-14
RTG – 4- I would think this means four ply rating
PLY - 2- I would think this means actual plies
MAT - . Type of cord?
WALL - Z Raised white letter?
TUBE – blank, does a blank mean not available or not equipped?
SPEC. - blank
Prod. Date Box – 0227, not sure how to read this.
Sequence – 227?
Serial No – 408360
Key numbers 1J23 and 5M32
Ident number – hard to read
Order Type – S?
Body Color Box 2- 71 Box 4-71, Blue
Model – 13427
Box 7- 4
Box 8 –F
Box 9- A
Box 10-8
Box 11-1
Box 12 - . Does the . mean not equipped?
Box 13- # ?
Well you get the idea I would like to know what all of these mean and any variables. Thanks for any feedback.

blank, does a blank mean not available or not equipped?Does not apply. For instance, tubeless tires don't use TUBE
Broadcast sheet notes:
* asterisk indicates a 'standard' item for model
# or = indicates something in the body shop to be done
% or º indicates something for the trim shop.

You are looking at a BODY BROADCAST COPY sheet, correct? I think you're correct on tires themselves.
Prod. Date Box – 0227, not sure how to read this.
February 27
Sequence – 227?
Believe this is a sequence number from 001...999 then starts over again. Of no real significance today.
Serial No – 408360
Sequence number of the car itself. VIN would be 134379K408360
Key numbers 1J23 and 5M32
Ignition and door/trunk/glove compartment keys were coded - these are the codes the keys were to be cut to.
Ident number – hard to read
Fisher Body assigned number to the body itself and should appear onthe Fisher Body unit plate
Order Type – S?
S is Sold Order (as opposed to blank for dealer inventory) Sold orders get priority.
Body Color Box 2- 71 Box 4-71, Blue
Body paint code 71 for Le Mans Blue lower and upper
Model – 13427
Series and body style 134 (Chevelle 300 Deluxe) 37 (2-dr sport coupe)
Box 7- 4
TRANS - 4-speed
Box 8 –F
SHIFT - Floor shift
Box 9- A
SEAT - Seat type A (bench)
Box 10-8
CYL - 8 cylinder engine
Box 11-1
RPO - Don't know. Have seen ., S, R, and Q here as well. I believe a "." is the base engine and I'm sure "Q" is the base 396 L35. If you had the CHASSIS BROADCAST COPY sheet, it'd have the engine suffix code and then we'd know what "1" is.
Box 12 - . Does the . mean not equipped?
A/C - Believe so
Box 13- # ?
STRG - I think this means equipped with power steering. Others with known p/s have this "#" character as well.
Well you get the idea I would like to know what all of these mean and any variables. Thanks for any feedback.
I'm working on breaking down codes and I have several different BODY BROADCAST COPY sheets for 1969 KC Chevelles - see http://chevellestuff.com/1969/chevelle/bs/kan/kan.htm. Could you email me a copy offline? The bigger the library, the better to help people in the future.

Could box 11 be a T instead of a 1 ? My sheet has a T in box 11 and my Chevelle is a 396-375hp car.

Wouldn't think so. That would definately indicate an SS 396 car but the poster doesn't indicate a "D" in block 14 that would indicate the mandatory disc brakes nor the number "3" in block 16 indicating body piercing for SS396 badging.
