I got my setup to convert my El Camino from Master Power Brakes. Very nice set, got them for a good price too. There are a few other places as well but I'm not sure of where they are from. Are you converting to power as well? Thats another cost you need to figure in.

If you want to change the spindles and upper control arms, Global West has an awsome package. Most conversions involve changing spindles. Baer brakes of Phoenix, AZ has a package that can use the existing spindles. I purchased upper control arms from Global West (type that uses stock spindles) with fantastic results with really flat cornering. I am saving for the Baer brake package and planning on keeping the wheels and tires at 15".

If you want to keep it stock-ish you should look for a factory `69-`72 settup. There are several aftermarket swaps available that are "stock type" but to be frank we`ve tried several of them at our shop and been disappointed by the poor materials quality and performance vs. a good factory example. If you don`t mind aftermarket parts Baer is top on my list. Their kits are top shelf all the way, properly engineered and they work VERY WELL,every time. Their 11" and 12" entry level kits use basically the same PBR calipers as a C5/C6 Corvette. It`s good stuff. IMO you also want to stick with stock spindles. They`re already modular units so bolt on brake kits are a natural. The swaps involving tubular UCAs and tall spindles from B body or 2nd gen F body cars look good at first blush but the 11" F brakes are exactly the same as `69-`72 Chevelle discs anyway. The 12" Impala brakes still use the same calipers and yield a marginal increase in braking. Replacing these calipers and rotors with modern parts is difficult to do properly because their spindles are one big cast unit. You end up having high load brake components bolted to drilled out dust shield holes with very thin walls. The taller spindles do enhance handling a great deal due to their increased height (which raises the RC height and reverses the normally backward camber curves) but the steering arms are much longer than stock and the wrong height too, slowing the steering and roughly doubling the already fairly poor bumpsteer. If you want to run stock spindles and drastically improve both the handling and the bumpsteer you might want to check out the Stg.2 suspension package on www.SCandC.com (http://www.SCandC.com) It`s not shown for A body only because the site needs an update, but it`s available for the same price as the G body setup.
