this may sounds kinda dumb, but ive never done it before...
how can i remove the shaft to get it out of the way for a header install on a '66?
thanks for any help.

You can probably just get away with disconnecting it from the steering box, there is a lot of play in it in all directions you could probably just move it up enough to slide the header in.-james
Lucas, if I remember correctly, if the shaft isn't real rusty, you can unbolt it from the steering box and loosen the pinch clamp at the end of the column near the firewall and slide the shaft in towards the interior. You may need to remove the steering wheel to be able to push the shaft in far enough with out hitting the seat or headliner. If the shaft has some rust, you may be able to clean it up enough with some scotch brite pads.
