DO NOT use spacers. Replacement springs are relatively inexpensive. You can find them in different rates and small & BB applications. If you have a small block car for instance and want to raise your car you could go w/ BB springs. I personally lowered my car by 4" in front & 3 in back but, I like that look. Good luck.

many people do not agree but I would suggest that you use the type of springs that put your car at proper ride height
if you have a small block use small block springs
new springs will put car at the original height
and if you are going to change rear springs definatly use variable rate springs
as for the front while you have it apart change your bushings and ball joints also great time to clean and paint control arms
and while you are at it install some offset upper control arm shafts so you can add some extra positive caster
that is if affordability is on your side
good luck
