I am desperate guys. I need some shock mouting studs that have a 7/16" shank on them. All I can find is a larger type. My shocks came with a metal bushing in the lower shock rubber which will not fit around the large stud. The KYB shocks I ordered came this way and are the same as what was on my car. Unfortunately one of the studs was stripped in the last instalation and will not hold anymore. Does anybody know where I can get the studs? No one seems to have them.

Are you talking about the threaded hole in the bottom of the lower a-arm? If you are you can try to tap a new hole, if not a machine shop should be able to fill in that hole with some metal and retap it to the original size.

Sorry. These are the rear shocks. They use a special stud so I don't want to just put a bolt in there. I would like to find the correct piece.

I know exactly what your issue is...I installed a pair of QA-1 shocks on my '71 Pro Touring car and the "stock" shock stud had was too large to pass thru the hole in the bottom eyelet. My solution was to use a bolt, including a nut used as a spacer, and it works just fine. Here's a picture: http://www.71protouringchevelle.com/022003-02.JPG

Thanks guys. Looks like I am just going to press the sleeves out of the rubber. I tried the bolt idea, but the hole in the shock plate is too big. I was afraid that the bolt could move over time and wear out the plate. graemlins/clonk.gif

Year one won't sell me the studs only, I have to buy the AC Delco shocks to get them.

I'll probably have a set of studs turned down soon, but I need to get a couple pay checks first. graemlins/clonk.gif Gah, it sucks being poor.....
