I have started replacing the floor pan on the driver side of our 68 chevelle my question is along the edge in the door opening where the rocker panel/threshold not sure what you call it wraps up around and spot welds to the floor pan along the door opening edge. When I drill out the spot welds along the edge will then the old floor pan just slip out from between the sandwiched metal that is on top and underneath? I can see where on both from and rear of the door opening how it folds down but it looks like the metal is slid between the top layer and the bottom layer of the rocker and spot welded. Sheesh I re-read this question and it confuses me and I think I know what I am talking about:wacko:

Hey I found a nice "how to" with great pictures from rubadub that answered my questions nicely. Sorry I should have did a better search before I asked my question. Lots of stuff popped up but it wasn't until after I asked my question I went back to reading all the search threads did I find the one I needed.

Rubadub has a diagrahm of that. The floor is sandwiched between the outer rocker and the inner rocker. Spot welds above and below the floor pan. You could cut the old pan 1/2'' short of the rocker edges, then lap weld the new on.
