I'm working on a 68 ss with 4-piston discs. The front lines from line to caliper is different than the old ones that came of the car.The new ones are supposed to be correct for chevelle with disc brake.I was wondering if the set up could have come off a different make such as gto,(ect).

Are you referring to the rubber hose that goes from the hard line to the caliper?

What part about it is different? Length? Brass ends?

I just put some on mine that had one small difference: the end that fit into the frame bracket was sized differently that the old drum hose end. It wouldn't fit in the bracke, but I wasn't worried about correctness, so I just got out the Dremel and ground on the bracket until it fit.

Oh, and my guess is the hose would be the same for all A-body cars, since the hard parts are all exactly the same as well. It could just be that the manufacturer switched to a different fitting end because that's what was available for production.

The line coming from the cross frame is hard to rubber and then turns back to hard line from the spendle bracket to the caliper. The old ones were 6'inches long and the new ones might be 4'inches.This is what right stuff detailng sent to replace the old ones with. Thanks for your input on this.

Hmmm...since you are working with the 4-piston caliper I can't be certain that you and I would be using the same rubber hose part. Mine is a 2-piston caliper. But, shoot, I just went out and measured mine out of curiosity, and mine are about 11 inches, which is considerably more than what you're talking about.

Have you installed them yet, and if you have, can you turn the wheel fully from lock to lock without the hoses being pulled tightly? There should be some slack in there.

Sounds like a call to Right Stuff might help clear things up.

From the hard line, off of the frame bracket to the spindle bracket is rubber hose about 11'long to the spindle bracket. Then it turns back to hard line from spindle pracket to caliper. All four fittings are differnt,D/S-3/8-9/16 P/S 7/16-1/2 I thought this was kinda strang for brake line's. I guess you just had to be there to understand some of gm's stuff. Again thank's

The hard line you are questioning goes from the 4 piston caliper to the rubber hose. This line on my 68 is only about 4 inches long. It's difficult to actually measure b/c of the short bends in it , but what you have sounds correct..

Oh! My fault. I misunderstood your explanation. I have never seen that setup before. My apologies. Looks like it's okay for you, though!
