I ordered a Covan's "Thunder Road" dash for my 72 sweep dash car, with a set of Autometer gauges. Tonight I finally got the factory dash out, and am trying to figure out WTF to do next. I realize I have to cut the old dash panel to make the the new one fit in its place (after getting the dash and seeing where the cuts were needed this seems sorry as hell too). For those of you who have put one in your cars, how did you put the wiper switch, a/c vents, heater controls, etc in the Covan's dash? The facory dash has screw holes for everything but the Covan's just has cutout holes, no mounting provisions! HELP! I'm about this close to boxing the thing up and sending it back to Covan's -- NO instructions for all of this, just wiring details. I thought I'd post up here and see if anybody else can help before I give up.

As always, a picture is worth 1000 words, so if anybody has done one of these and took pictures along the way, I'd be mucho appreciative to see them!

PS - What about the metal framework from the original dash assembly? Should I rivet the Covan't dash to that, in the couple of holes where you can??

OK, sorry one more dumb question: Are you not supposed to remove the factory dash/instrument panel? Does this Covan's unit just fit over the existing factory dash?

I've got the same dash commin for my 64 in a few days (brushed aluminum with Carbon fiber guages), these 64's & 5's are pretty straight forward though so can't really relate to ya with your issues...give them a call I'm sure they'll get ya on the right track! Hopefully someone will chime in for ya, but I think it's a fairly new product. Which guages did ya go with?

I just screwed mine on top of my dash with the sweep speedo and idiot lights taken out, looks strange near the heater controls but other than that I'm happy.
