I was wondering if anyone has ever used Eastwood's Epoxy primer (item #51127 ZP). I've done a search but can't seem to find an answer of anyone using it. I am thinking of ordering it and sending it to my sisters in the US. I bought a quart of PPG NCP 250 and that was $108 a quart. So I am trying to find a good alternative where I won't have to worry about application later on.

Thanks in advance

I've talked to some bodymen who like Sherwin Williams epoxy primer. It's easier to get up here.

Do yourself a favor and go to a local autobody paint supplier, eastwood is overpriced and it will be some off brand with their label on it.Find a supplier that sells basf, ppg, dupont or sikkens, there lots of good brands available that you can get locally.Paint and primer is a hazardous material and you could have a difficult time getting it across the border.

Do you have Transtar up there? Decent price, good performance. Never had a problem with it. Their top end clears (Euro) perform well and are cheaper than the majors for those on a budget. Comparible to HOK. C.C. is right. Those places like Summit and Eastwood are repackaging paint. It's not theirs. The money hobbiest waste because of clever marketing and ignorance is astonishing. The "restoration" dealers and performance catalogs like the aforementioned have you guys pegged. Like buying computer backup or credit monitoring when you don't need it. Go to your jobber; that's what they are there for.

thanks guys for all your help. I won't take the chance of bringing it across the border.:noway: The price had me blinded , not seeing the hazardous mat. issue.:clonk: And I will check a few body shops . I'm not sure of the Transtar brand, but I will look into it.
Thanks again everyone.

PPG NCP primer is not an epoxy primer. Its a hybrid between urethane and epoxy based primers.

Its an urethane building primer or primer surfacer with epoxy like properties used for adhesion since urethane primer should not be applied to bare metal. IMO its a product meant for collision shops and used to avoid purchasing and appling two separate products. A good product but not effective as using first an epoxy primer on bare metal then using an urethane based building primer...Eric

P.S. Eastwoods, summit etc is nothing more then re-labeled paint, go to your local paint store.

thanks for that info Eric. I went to the local auto parts store and requested "epoxy primer" thinking I would be getting just that. And after I paid the price I did, I wouldn't have thought otherwise.
Thanks again.
