Hi,When I my shake 66 SS car from side to side using the rear bumper there is play.It sounds like knocking,like the axles have play between the bearings.Is this O.K.?Thanks

Hi,I just checked some posts on posi play.The play that I have .03149 inch not sure if that is O.K.?:confused:

That's nothing to worry about. If you want to reduce it then you need to replace the clutches in the posi, or shim the clutches that you have. This will reduce the amount of axle end play. What did you use to measure 5 places past the decimal?

I used veneers and it measured 0.8mm,we don't use inches so I used the web to calculate it to inches and the result was .03149.Anyway thanks for your and if I need some parts Ill contact you.

Now I understand. I wish we had converted to the metric system when I was a kid so we could be on the same page with the rest of the world.

What is the max play for the posi to work O.K.?Is there any photos to show what needs to replaced to?Metric way better, but down her in Australia we use both.Thanks for help:thumbsup:

You can replace the clutches, or just shim the clutches that you have if they are not worn very much. A new set of clutches is $116 and a shim set is $27.
