Hey All,
I'm looking for the loop cable for the emergency
break system. The one on the car is stretched and I need to replace it.
I've looked at a couple of places online and haven't found it.
My front breaks have been concerted to disc, just waiting on this one cable and its done!
Thanks!
Ok.. I found it at ss396.com but I'm hesitant for two reasons....
1: I'm not sure which one it is, its the cable I believe that links to both the back breaks and is like a U and connects to the pull cable. Also not sure what the W/ TH400 or W/O is. If its regarding the transmission... I have a turbo 400

2: I'm not all happy with supporting ss396, I've done alot of purchases with them and something always happens with each other, last time I got over charged $25 bucks, because what they had listed on the website and what the price was, was different.
Anyway... any help is appreciated!

Most Chevelle parts vendors have the cables available. Most call the cable you need the "middle cable". If you have a TH400 transmission, you need to order the cable marked as "w/TH400". The cables for cars with a TH400 transmission are different from the rest.
I would think you could also order this cable from any decent local parts store. Even if they don't have it in stock they could probably order it.
You say your cable is too stretched and no longer fits? This is likely not the case and it can likely be reused. Are you certain you have all three of the cable hooks that help keep the cable taught? There should be one large hook in the transmission cross member on the passenger side opposite where the foot pedal (front) cable attaches and then two smaller hooks that hook into the floorboard cross members to keep the long runs of the cable from dragging on the ground. These hooks are about half way from the front cable to the rear axle cable ends.

I ordered an intermediate cable through my local gm dealer about a year ago. Pete
