Hello to all at Team Chevelle,my question is for my 69/ss/396 chevelle.

1)I will be removing the front swaybar to paint it and then re-install it with new poly end link bushings and would like to know if i have to raise the car to remove it or if i can leave it
on the ground and just unbolt it from there?

2) If i can remove front swaybar in either a raised or lowered postion which way would you guys suggest as the easiest/best postition to do it in?

Thanks....Scott

To remove the front sway bar doesn't require the front of the car to be in the air. It will be a tight to get under the car to unbolt the sway bar, especially if car is alittle lower. I would personally put the car on jackstands just to get the room.

Scott, I actually just pulled my front swaybar on the '70 TODAY...and it was MY first time to boot. So it's interesting to see this thread.

I didn't jack up my front end, as I'm a pretty small guy, but I would agree that if you did, it might be a bit more comfortable.

I will say that I unbolted the frame bushings first...and if I had to do it again...I would definitely unbolt the end links FIRST.

By going in the order that I did, it left the swaybar hanging in my face and the end links were tryin to move around on me. Only a mild annoyance, but one that could be avoided. Either way...it's a snap. Good luck! graemlins/beers.gif
