I have a 65 malibu convert with stock manual drums on the front. I have a complete dics conversion from a 70 monte carlo. Spindles, power brake booster, rotors and calipers. Everything is their. Will i run into any problems and do i have to do anything to the rear brakes because of the manual to power brakes?

You should be fine with all those parts from the MC.

Use the search function at the top of the page and look in this section for "conversion" or "monte carlo" and you'll get many results. Read up on them and that oughta' clear up any questions you'd have.

65steve, you don't have to do anything with the rear drum brakes, except that you will need to install a combination valve, sometimes called a proportioning valve. Go to www.mpbrakes.com (http://www.mpbrakes.com) and read about function of such valve. Basically it delays fluid to front discs momentarily to allow rear drums to catch up and apply. A drum brake car all around does not have a combo valve, only a distribution block on the frame that many mistake for a combination valve. Do search on this site and read up. Great conversion. Did it to my 69 cutlass this spring.

Use '69 camaro front hoses, they'll work with your stock drum style frame mounts.

Hey, I'll add to the number of Minnesota guys participating in this discussion. :D

I've got a similar situation and this is just the type of info I was looking for. I'm helping my dad on his '67 Chevelle convert that has manual brakes and drums all around. I did suspension and brake upgrades on my '72 LeMans recently and wanted to use the original spindles/disc brakes and master cylinder off my LeMans on my dad's Chevelle. Can someone tell me if this will work? From some of the stuff I've come across, it looks like there is something different about '71/'72 spindles, but I don't know what.

Also, can I use the upper front A-arms from my LeMans on the Chevelle? They've been sandblasted, painted and have new bushings and balljoints, so it would be great to reuse them. I'm assuming it should work fine, but want to be sure.

Thanks!

Thanks guys for the great info. For you Minnesota guys a great place to get parts for any older cars is dirty Daves or St. Paul Park Auto. I got pads and new rotors bearing and seals for the brake setup for 85 bucks. They were also on the shelf. One other question Does anyone go to the Chevelleabration car show. I've heard of it and would like to go.

MN guys check out the Northstar Chevelle Club! www.northstarchevelles.com (http://www.northstarchevelles.com) and our forum at http://www.chevelles.net/cgi-bin/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?category=2

There's a few of us planning the trip to Chevelle-a-bration in the events section of that forum.

GS470, the LeMans brakes are a direct swap.
