Taylor Universal 8.2MM wires for my 70 396. The problem is:
If I pull on the distributor boot first, then crimp the end on, when I slide the 90 degree boot back over the crimped end I keep pulling the wire off the end. Evening after using lots of dielectric grease. And if I try to push the boot on after putting on the crimped end I can't seem to slide it on far enough.
I will keep trying and use more grease, but which method do you guys find works the best??

OK, I finally figured this out. Boot must be put on first, then crimped end. The trick, besides lots O grease is when you are pulling the boot back to the end of the wire, when crimped end is about to enter the boot do NOT just pull it into the boot. You must make sure the crimped end clears the edge of the boot and then push it in with a screwdriver and a very little bit of pulling.

I have an HEI in my 70-468 wagon (driver ). I use delco fat Black wires. I get wires for an 84 Suburban. When your done it looks like the HEI & Wires were made for a 70 Chevelle. Then again , Mines not a racer. Just my 2 cents.

I did this with a Taylor set for my 66 a while back and had the same problem.
I think Taylors instructions said something about hot soapy water as lube. I did not have good luck with that, and ended up using vast quantiies of Armorall, needle nose pliers and such. Took 3 nights and a whole six pack of Bud Light Lime. I believe I did install the boots on the wire and then crimp. They have worked well for 2 years.

I just did a set of taylors and it was fine...just had to make sure i crimped the terminal REALLY well...Yup, boot on first, actually would rub it in my hands a bit to soften just a little

fell yalls pain but I am well pleased with the wires so far. "think" I can tell a difference from the autozone lifetime wires they replaced..the 8.2mm fit my bbc wire looms (stock) with no problems too...
