Does anyone know if my original master cylinder lid(sent away for replating) will fit on a rebuilt master from a parts store? Or will I need to use my original master cylinder?
It(original) needs rebuilt to be able to use it at the price of $140 or I can buy a rebuilt one from Autozone for $24 and keep my original to say I have a #'s matching master.

Hi Scott, I don't exactly know your question, that is why I didn't answer earlier. Let me see if I got this right, you have a master cylinder and lid, but the lid is at the replaters and the master cylinder needs replaced. Okay, order a master cylinder for your vehicle and it'll come with a lid, but it'll be the same lid that you have at the platers. If your master cylinder that needs replaced is original, you may want to "eat" the core and keep it for numbers sake if you are worried about that. The biggest problem that I seem to have with master cylinders and such is their lid gaskets always seem to leak, especially on the new rebuilt ones from the chain stores. I have found that if you are willing to spend a few ($8 or $10), you can get one from the Chevy dealer and you'll be better off; (a little at least.)
I hope this answered your question

Bryan,
You the man!! Sorry I wasn't real clear in asking the question but you NAILED it. Just wasn't sure if my newly plated master cylinder lid would fit on an aftermarket rebuilt master cylinder from an auto parts store. If it doesn't fit, maybe I'll get lucky and the lid that comes with the rebuilt master will be gold cadmium and match my booster(aslo getting replated).
Thanks,

My .02 is that I've had terrible luck with auto parts rebuilt or even new master cylinders not lasting. The one I have now from Master Power Brakes is 5 years old and still going strong. I believe they use GM parts.

Bruce,
Do you have a phone # or website for Master? Where are they from?
Thanks
