Getting ready to do my front end rebuild. Budget is rediculously tight- I already have most of the stuff i need (rebuild kit) shocks are one of the only things left to purchase.
I've had KYB Gas-a-justs in the past- seemed ok, a little stiff, but ok.
I had Monroe Sense-A-Tracs on the front of a car years ago and liked the way it rode- they are cheaper thjan the KYBs... So i'm leaning toward those right now.
Spending $80-$100 each on Edelbrocks or Bilsteins is out- just not in the budget.
With that in mind, what would you recommend?
Also... This is mostly a cruiser car

Monroe is the way to go...many threads with this debate and always comes to the same conclusion.

I just bought the kyb's for my 66 i think they were $48 each but i seen the monroes for $32 each. these are the first time i used the kyb's and havent really drove it yet.
Love my kyb's in the front. The cheap, non adjustable ones.

Wow...I can buy KYB Gas-adjusts from my local mom and pops auto parts store for about $24 each.

I like my Monroe Sensa-Tracs. They give a nice smooth ride for cruising and have a Lifetime Warranty.

I run 70/30 front and back in theses shocks. . .

They arent what you would expect in a shock they work a little different. I had KYBs up front with air shocks out back. It was a stif ride. I put on the 70/30s and the ride is much smoother with better control.
Ive had them for almost 3yrs now and they feel the same as the day I put them on. I highly recomend them!

I know these kyb's were more than i could have paid i think summit sells them for $35. but thats what happens when your not patient and want the shocks that day.lol:clonk:

I replaced the KYB's with Bilsteins and the difference in ride and handling was well worth the cost. With the KYB shocks the front end would bottom on the bumpers through big dips, went away with the shock change.
$70 each from Summit Racing.
