Has anyone installed an SS dash strip on a dash originally for a malibu with wood grain. Did you have any problems with the ss strip fitting. I was going to order one and was told by the vendor it would not work on a malibu dash.

did the vendor say why it wouldn't fit the dash. as fair as I know there is no difference in the metal part of the dash.

Maybe the vendor got mixed up between a 66 and 67.

The 67 SS strip will fit just fine on a 67 Malibu dash. But you need to also buy:

(1) the retainer clips and screws for the SS strip (the ones from the wood strip won't work), and

(2) the special nuts that hold the wiper and headlight switches in place on the SS dash (the wood piece uses chrome bezels that attach to the switches, whereas the SS piece uses special nuts), and

(3) the correct SS ignition switch bezel (they are a little different from the malibu bezel)

I believe there are some differences on different 67 dash strips. Not sure what they are though. Deluxe is different in appearance as well. I think some of the nuts for the switches are different too.

I think the holes spacing is all the same, although different from the 66.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. OPG is the vendor and doesnt say why it wont fit. If you have their new catalog take a look. When looking in the catalog they dont list any different parts for SS dash switches.

Buy it from Ausley's or Hinshaw's. They will have all the pieces you need.
