: my motor wanted listed on Chevellestuff
royalplum67 Mar 4th, 10, 12:07 PM A friend called and told me my "motor wanted" listing was on this site. How did it get there and how do I correct the listing? they have the wrong code listed. Also in their vin tag section, they didn't know what the numbers on the lower left hand corner were. These seem to be only on California cars. My 67 SS is a Z code and those numbers match my order number. It is the same as the order sheet filled out by the dealer when I special ordered mine. Hope this helps someone.
Xtreme70SS396 Mar 4th, 10, 1:16 PM Go to www.chevellestuff.com and tell them.
This is www.chevelles.com
Good site, I'm sure it will be taken care of promptly once you're there.

Specifically what "motor wanted" is yours? Since the only 1967 engine that listed on the Orphaned Chevelle Owners page is for a Fremont car, sequence #146274, I would assume that's the one you're referring to? I have the gentleman's name that submitted the request on behalf of his friend. If you'll contact me offline, I'll gladly supply you with the friends name and email address.
they have the wrong code listed.
What code is wrong? The EH suffix code? Based on the given information of a Fremont 396/325 w/4-speed, EH would be correct.
Also in their vin tag section, they didn't know what the numbers on the lower left hand corner were. These seem to be only on California cars. My 67 SS is a Z code and those numbers match my order number. It is the same as the order sheet filled out by the dealer when I special ordered mine. Hope this helps someone.
VIN tags don't have numbers other than those making up the VIN itself except for a few that have dealer stamped dates by the DD embossing.
If you mean the 5-digit number on the lower left of the Fisher Body plate being the car's order number, that's great information to find out. If you could email me a photo of your Fisher Body plate (aka trim tag, cowl tag, etal) and a scan or photo of the paperwork with the order number matching it to verify, I'll be more than happy to add that information to the web site and clear up one more mystery on trim tags. Is this order number a dealer-generated invoice order number (such as a purchase order number), a GM-generated order number, just what? I've seen two versions of "1967 CHEVELLE AND EL CAMINO CAR ORDER" forms, each with an 'order number' in different locations. Is the order form you're referring to?
Anxiously awaiting to hear from you. It's the sharing of little details like this that helps make decoding information on trim tags (and other pieces & parts) helpful to others.
royalplum67 Mar 12th, 10, 2:14 PM Hi, my code should be ED 396 325 4 speed. The order number is from the acutal order sheet that I sat down and filled out the day I ordered my car. The number in the upper left hand quarter is 30380. This is the number stamped on the bottom left hand corner of my vin tag. When the dealership closed, a friend that worked there brought my file to me which even has the dealer cost invoice. The dealer was kinda crooked, so ripped the window sticker out of it before i could see it. I was charged 8.00 for gas and I remember him only putting 3.00 in it. also was to be charged 10% over cost and he honked my pretty good. Guess being young and dumb I didn't know any better. I will gladly send you copies if you will e-mail me with a fax number. Thanks, TJ
royalplum67 Mar 12th, 10, 2:18 PM when I mess up I mess up, the number should be 30308 and it is on a 1967 chevelle & el camino order form. the number is in the upper right hand corner.
AZCamino Mar 12th, 10, 4:33 PM In 1966 most if not all of that years production was built for the California market with K19 A.I.R. That does not appear to be the case in 1967 at Fremont, as there were way more Chevelles produced there than K19 A.I.R. options. So it is not safe to assume that an 396 325HP engine installed there would be coded EH rather than ED.
John,
Where was your car originally delivered and what options are listed on the invoice. If this car was built for delivery in California, the engine would be coded EH, but if it was built to be delivered some distance away from California and the immediate adjacent states then it could have been an ED engine. What documentation do you have that indicates ED? Do you have the Protect-O-Plate?
DaleM Mar 12th, 10, 4:55 PM Hi, my code should be ED 396 325 4 speed. The order number is from the acutal order sheet that I sat down and filled out the day I ordered my car. Was the car sold to a dealer in the state of California? Suffix code ED is a 396/325 4-speed non A.I.R. code. If it were a California dealer I'd have thought the engine would have the EH code for A.I.R.
Again, I think you're confusing a VIN plate with the Fisher Body number plate (aka trim tag, cowl tag, etal).
This is a Fremont VIN plate...

...and this is a Fremont Fisher Body number plate.

Albeit they're both for an El Camino body style, they are still typical of Fremont.
So what you're saying is the 30308 number is on the order form as well as the same location that 32868 on the plate here? I'll PM you with other information.
royalplum67 Mar 12th, 10, 5:54 PM My car was shipped to Nebraska and no, don't have protecto plate, just dealer invoices. My trim tag looks just like the one you have shown, and the bottom left hand numbers match my dealer order. I find it strange that my car was made in CA when Kansas would have been a lot closer. I took a digital photo of my trim tag and will take photos of all my paper work. Now for the hard part, it would be much easier for an old fart like me just to fax it, but is there a place that I can e-mail them to? I will have to find an 8 year old to help me but I will do it. please advise, TJ
DaleM Mar 12th, 10, 6:11 PM Emailing would be much easier.

royalplum67 Mar 12th, 10, 6:35 PM okay, but help walk me through this, if you don't mind, call 308-432-4077. believe it or not, I've been a professional photographer for over 30 years, but still haven't figured out this digital stuff. I have excellent photos and have the file on my desktop. TJ:hurray:
royalplum67 Mar 12th, 10, 7:08 PM did it work? sent them to your e-mail address at chevellestuff?:hurray:

That is odd but possible. I have seen some fullsize chevrolets from 66 built at the Los Angeles plant and shipped to Nebraska. I've even seen a 67 caprice built at the Wilmington, DE plant and shipped to NE. It may have had to do with available units to ship.

DaleM Mar 13th, 10, 6:03 PM Being a customer ordered car, it's also possible that other plants were filling customer orders before the model changeover (this is a late May built car) and were simply swamped so the order was given to Fremont. Just another possibility.
fat60chevy Mar 13th, 10, 6:14 PM Hi John I am the one that tried to put the add on the chevellestuff web site but didn’t think that Dale put it on because the only info about the car that I know for sure was the vin # I didn’t know the suffix code on the block I was hoping someone would call me so I could call you and tell you I found your motor If it is still out there you are the one determiner enough to find it. If any of the people on team chevelle get the muscel car Review magazine read the article on page 8 of the December 2009 on the car John Is talking about It is a very good story I will try to post the article on team chevelle as an attachment Good luck John
