: Best front and rear suspension upgrade?

Have any of you guys ever done a full upgrade to your front and rear suspension? I'm curious to know what kind of setup you went with. I really have no idea where to start, but I'd love to upgrade my car's suspension, by going to a coil-over setup, with ALL new components, brakes, etc.

I'm just curious to know what some of you custom guys are running...

Custom built spindles and upper a-arms, Tru-coil 9.5" Nascar springs with adjusters. 13X1.250 rotors, 2 piston PBR calipers.

Custom built 3-link with adjustable panhard bar. 12.5X1.00 rear rotrs with single piston PBR calipers.

Still under construction...

Can you tell Denny is our suspension guru? :D

Where is the "not me" smiley.

I'm still learning, thanks though.

Marcus at SC&C is the only one I know of that even has a bolt on kit available, it's pretty good (and pricey), not the best (cause my design is the best j/k) but as good as you are going to find without building your own.

Now start the flame about how great GW or Baer or Hothkis are. They are simply supplying you with a tall spindle conversion. Granted GW includes Del-a-lum bushings (which are great but you can buy seperately) and tubular arms (big deal). I think that if want to spend over a grand for a tall spindle kit I might head to the wrecking yard and pick up some peices for you. The major suppliers out there are not designing suspension systems, they just take an exsisting swap and refine it to make it more "weekend swap" do-able.

This thread has prompted me to put together a page with all the different options available and the types of numbers you can expect from them....I think you will be disappointed with the tall kit from one of the major suppliers.

Yeah Dennis, you show 'em! graemlins/thumbsup.gif Is your three-link sort of like the 3rd and 4th Gen F-Body with the lower arms and a Torque Arm? How come it isn't posted on Jackazz? I want some pics of this setup. I had an 88 IROC, and it hooked pretty damn good with a slightly modified rear suspension.

3-link together yet, still aquiring peices.

No, a torque arm is yet another rear suspension design. The 3-link will be the 2 lower links in their OE locations except in a spherical bearing adjustable tube style design. The 3rd link is again a rod end link with a custom built adjustable height mount welded to a new rear crossmember. I'm still working out the axle mount....too many projects at one time.

NASA won't let it on the track without paint so that has to get done as well.

One day we should do it, if you ever have the time. Betwixed yourself and the other guys around the Bay Area we have enough squad and enough skills to build damn near anything.

Been watching your posts for quite some time and each time I am more intrigued. Cannot go on much longer, you will develop gear head stalkers. :D

And yet another thread hi-jack...sorry Chris.

I keep finding excuses not to head out there for the Turlock get together. Maybe next time.

Would be nice to meet you at Turlock, but they do hold them 4 times a year so think about attending one. Beaux and I could make a swing out to Livermore one of these Sundays, let us know a good time and date to get out there.

Sorry Chris, can't help myself, I am just plain rude graemlins/sad.gif

Best suspension? How does one judge something like that? smile.gif
My front suspension consists of Global West A-arms w/Delalum bushings,QA1 coilovers, and Baer Track 13" Eradispeed rotors and twin piston PBR calipers.
Rear suspension on the Fab 9 consists of a Chassis Engineering four link,Strange Engineering coilovers,Baer Touring 12" Eradispeed rotors, and twin piston PBR calipers.

Clint I think best implies the best all-around design.

There cannot be any doubt that the 3-link is the king of rear suspension, with the amount of adjustability that system offers it can be tailed to anything very well and in most cases better than any other design.

Front suspension gets tricky because every car is different but that in mind a custom designed suspension based on your vehicle will always the best. Again, with the right amount of adjustability it can be tailored to do whatever it you need. It doesn't matter what you want to do the front arms need to be firmly mounted and free of any bind.

Thanks for the input guys... no sweat on the hi-jack; I've been known to steal one or two meself. ;)

I've also been looking into the Air Ride Technologies suspension kits. They seem to be pretty nice.

Bringing this back up to post a link to the analysis I promised. Dial-up beware....The 1st set is stock, scary stuff. The 2nd set is "tall" spindles, F body or B body are the same...again, not looking pretty. The 3rd is my own personal project...friken art. If there were a suspension hall of fame, this would be in it. j/k
