I was just checking to see which brands of clutches you guys were using- I pretty well smoked the stock style disc at the drags at CB09. Like to stab a new one in there before CB10. Heard good things about Centerforce, Zoom, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I use a Zoom diaphragm style in my Elcamino. I run the hell out of it including a trip to the drag strip or 2 and 25 runs through the autocross at CB09. When I pulled out the GMPP 454 last year it still looked brand new.

If you have a Clutch Masters shop near you, they can rebuild your disk, as well as your pressure plate. You can choose different types of material for the disk, instead of just buying one mail order.

I used the 12" Centerforce Dual Friction clutch & PP in my TKO500 behind a BBC and it rocks. I have a McLeod hyd t.o. bearing, so naturally the pedal effort is next to nothing - I don't know if they are stiff in a manual clutch or not. It grips like nobody's business.

Ed,

If you have smoked the disc, then I would recommend that you replace the disc, pressure plate and throw out bearing. Also look at the flywheel very closely for unevenness and wear. If worn, have it resurfaced. I have had excellent results using McLeod clutches.

Thanks, guys- all great info. I'll pull it apart and see what's happened in there. Need to get it swapped and tested before June!

Thanks again-

Ed
