Can someone explain to me why running a spool on the street isnta good Idea .. Trying to understand why two locked tires would give such bad driving on the street... Thanks

Hard on axles, you acn break them from the extra
stress. It is easy to loose control cornering if you
have never driven a locked rear on the street before.
They are better for racing, get a posi for the street.

I had a spool in my 72 back in highschool, you have to be really carefull going around corners, makes for a wierd ride when cornering. the worst part i think is the wear and tear on the tires. i drove mine everyday, went through the back tires every 8-12 months. They are nice when racing though. mine hooked very well.

A spool LOCKS the rear end....and makes it as if you have one axle that goes from one wheel to the other. When cornering....BOTH wheels turn at exactly the same rate and either the tire has to give a little or the axle (breaks) gives. A posi allows for the inside tire to turn at a slower rate than the outter tire.

I hope this helps.
