I am getting ready to install my upper and lower control arms, spindles and coil springs. This is a bare frame - no drive train or body. I'm looking at my assembly manual and chassis service manual, here is what I plan to do.
1. Attach upper control arm, torque upper shaft bolts to frame.
2. Attach lower control arm and torque bolts to spec.
3. Attach spindle at top and torque.
4. Compress coil spring with a spring compressor, install spring, attach spindle to lower ball joint and torque.
5. Release tension from coil spring.

Does this sound correct? Will a compressor compress a BB coil spring enough to just 'set' it place? Should I torque all attaching points to their max now, or wait until body and engine are installed? And, finally when should I completely tighted the bolts in the end of the upper shaft? These are the ones with the big cupped washers and lock washers. Thanks, Tim

If you are using rubber bushings, do not torque the lower control arm bolts or upper shaft bolts until the car is together. It has to be at ride height. If you are using poly bushings, torque them whenever.

You should be able to compress the spring enough. The beauty is that the lower arm can swing way down. Should give you plenty of room to get a compressed spring in place.

Thanks Tim. They are rubber, so I will wait until the car is together and on the floor before final torque is applied.
