I am sorry to say. I do not own a Chevelle. I own a '64 Cutlass 442 http://www.64cutlass442.webs.com/

My big, BIG problem is I cannot find a restoration place that can get me the window metal backed channels that have the felt seals in them. I have called three different places. Seams nobody restores the window channels???

I have the following pictures, That show my problem.
I am also in need of some pictures that might show me how the back rear quarter windows are suppose to properly roll up. I don't think mine do it
correctly.

ere are some pictures of what I see..
Please let me know if this is the normal operation of rear 2 door post quarter glass..
1st is what it looks like rolling down

2nd is back chanel inside body

3rd is where the front upper edge rides on the channel

4th you can see the whole chanel frame sticking out like it is all fubar'd

5th back lower part of the chanel. window comes out of it..

I have not started restoring my '66 2dr. sedan but I bought most of the parts from www.restorationspecialties.com . I think they have a great inventory of hard to find parts.
I sent samples and they matched them very well. Great help from them. Some of the things I bought were:
1) Y620-96 (SS Beaded Channel) page 12
2) X410 (clips) page 30
3) 4852 (adhesive sponge) page 32
4) G101 (for run channel) page 32
5) FELT181 (for run channel) page 32

Look at the parts on their site catalog and compare them with what you need. Again, I have not started assembling or restoring my rear quarter windows (car is currently sandblasted), but I feel these parts are what is needed. BTW, the front border of the window has a long stainless channel with a white plastic guide tip at the top which maintains the window into the run channel. Sorry I have no pictures, but you can probably see how the window rolls down on page 8-35 of the 1966 Body by Fisher Manual. Good luck on your project, hope it helps. Let us know if it works when you're done.

Thanks for the info. I have looked and emailed http://www.restorationspecialties.com/. I got what I took as a short " I do not have these at this time" by a Dave Jr. I emailed and asked if they new when they would have them and/or if they new of another place that might.
I got a another short answer of "no".

Not a lot of help..
But I have downloaded their catalog and will take another look. I think, not sure, that '64 and 65 chevelle, cutlass and buicks might be the same back there for 2 door post. Not sure about the '66's.
Thanks again.

Try:www.crlaurence.com in the auto section. You may have to take something close....

I removed the rear glass run channel from the car and sent it to restoration specialties. They rebuilt it to like new both sides for $90.

6cylcecil, how did you remove that without bending it all up?

I would love to have mine rebuilt or fixed. as you all can see in the pictures above I have one that has been crushed because the window didn't sit right in it when rolled down..

Any one have any photos of a 64 or 65 2 door post with there windows rolled down???

On my 67, I found a "will fit" channel at JC Whitney. I had to fit them into the metal bracket down inside the door shell with a couple of pop rivets. I order them by dimension and cross section diagram. That was several years back, don't know if they still have them. One thing, the metal "bead" on each side was originally black but the parts I bought were chrome.

I know where a 66 Pontiac Lemans post car is that may still have the tracks??, I pulled the rear window glass and regulator assemblies out of it a while back. If someone knows if they will fit I can go back and check for you.
I have some other odds and ends for that car if someone needs them?
